
Marmora Snofest Meeting
Friday, April 7, 2006
Present: Richard Lowery, Chair, Barbara Fisher, Treasurer, Wilma Bush, Secretary, June Vilneff, Vera Wylie, Bob Drummond, John Solmes, Stu Fisher, Linda & Jerry Roy, Sue Korver and Norm Bradley who arrived after meeting started.

The Chair welcomed the group.
Motion by Vera Wylie, seconded by Bob Drummond
that minutes of February10, 2006 be accepted as circulated.

It was noted extra trophies were purchased this year, so only new plates are needed for 2007 races.
Buttons: Bob Drummond said we have too many since there were no races this year and we must be prepared for that to happen again. Stu Fisher reported he has 1300 left over.
MOTION by June Vilneff, seconded by Bonnie Danes
that 1,000 be purchased with the year on them and 500 without the year.

Norm Bradley arrived at the meeting.
Two recommendations were given for future banquets:
June Vilneff - ”Go For Broke“ band and Sue Korver - ”Roy Bonisteel“ speaker.
They agreed to work on which one will be booked for the 2007 Banquet.
Race Marshall - Brian Galloway had submitted a report. (attached)
Bob Drummond said they have changed the name of their business to BMR and will be purchasing new bibs. Richard Lowery will check with the committee to see if they have any other suggestions.
Norm Bradley spoke to the question regarding ‘steroids’ in the racing rules and it was agreed the steroid phrase would be eliminated from the rules.
At Jerry Roy’s suggestion, June Vilneff agreed to send appreciation to road crossing volunteers.
June also circulated a drawing of a proposed cabinet to be built to store the trophies.
MOTION by Stu Fisher, seconded by Jerry Roy
that $1,450 be spent on building of an oak cabinet with a light and glass doors to be put up on wall in Tourist Information Building to hold the Snofest trophies.

Environment - Bonnie Danes suggested having a Saturday night film dealing with the Environment, perhaps at the Senior School, Snofest Weekend. Possibly a silver collection would be taken.
Following a discussion on the Marmora Snofest Association By-Laws:
MOTION by Bob Drummond, seconded by Norm Bradley
that the Dog Club and the Adventure Race are sub committees of the Marmora Cup Snofest and
will be expected to submit reports. Carried
AMENDMENT TO ABOVE MOTION - by Bonnie Danes, seconded by Vera Wylie
that the Dog Club and the Adventure Race have their own identity and this decision will be sent
to the Municipality of Marmora and Lake for approval. Carried
Jerry Roy advised the Malamute Society has a magazine and Snofest has been promoted in that magazine.
June Vilneff showed a copy of Quinte Sports which carried news and photos on Snofest.
Resignation - Brian Tipping’s resignation was received with thanks.
Committee Structure Report prepared by John Langley and presented by Richard Lowery was not accepted by majority.

The Chair presented a full report on the State of the Snofest Association.
Barbara Fisher said she had talked to Gwen McKeown. Don has five more chemo treatments but it appears the cancer is gone.

that a basket of fruit be purchased and delivered to Don McKeown by June Vilneff

Volunteers - Linda Roy suggested we contact the high school and see if any of the students needing volunteer hours would be willing to assist with some of the Snofest activities.
