
Marmora Snofest Meeting

Jerry Roy, John Langley, Norman Bradley and guest from Loyalist College Cindy Heller.

The Chair welcomed those present.

That Minutes of January 6, 2006 meeting be accepted as circulated.

PRESENTATION
George Osborne presented a $100 cheque to the Chair. Another $100 cheque was received
from Scotty Cook. The $200 will be used to purchase approximately 15 vests (at cost of $12.50 each
plus tax) for volunteers working at the Snofest activities February 4 and 5. Numbers will be put on
them by magic marker.
Other donations included $200 from Marmora Insurance and $50 from Gary Poirier.

COMMITTEES
• Races - Brian Galloway reported races are set. It was noted there was too much ice right now for
races.
MOTION by Norman Bradley, seconded by John Solmes
That a committee of five meet Tuesday, January 31, 10 a.m. at Drummond’s store to decide if
races can be held. Carried
• Buttons - Stu Fisher reported Buttons have been paid for - and he noted some of them are falling
apart. Nancy Sopha will be notified.
• Advertising - Norman Bradley advised all radio stations have been looked after - there are to be two
more interviews. He has had more contacts this year. Sue Korver is looking after publicity on Cool
100, Classic Hits.
It was noted large Snofest signs had only been put in stores on the main street. Vera will ask
Winston to put some in businesses along Hwy. 7.
• Arts and Crafts - Barbara Fisher reported.
• Environment - Bonnie Danes a bus has been booked at cost of $150.
Times in coloured posters for Environmental Displays is incorrect.

That Jim Uens, of Tweed, be hired with his horse drawn wagon for 9 am - 4 pm to transport
people at fairgrounds to and from the Legion, United Church Luncheon and business area at a cost of
$150. Carried
• Sponsors - The Chair advised Doug Mitchell has resigned. DVDs are available for the sponsors.
Steve Bartlett will be requested to assist Richard.
• Promotional Material
Tie down toques are still to come.
Ten dogs-in-a-can are left.

• Lumberjack Event - Robert Young needs an emcee for the Lumberjack Event. He also could use
one or more timers.
• Weight Pull Event - Linda and Jerry Roy said they have all the officials.
• Banquet - June Vilneff has sold 98 tickets. There was not a number sold by Bob Drummond
available. Place mats will be available from Mary Provost.
• Breakfasts - Vera Wylie said there had been previous problems with the door to the warm room
open to the community hall. She requested the door be kept locked during the breakfasts.
Two signs will be made up by Community Care - one on arena door advising that’s the door
mushers use for registration in the warm room; one on community hall door saying, ”Breakfast Only“.
• Registration - Sue Korver needs assistance - Pamela Langley will be asked if she would volunteer.
• Photography - it was decided, if Ashley Murrell wishes to take and sell photos, he will do that
without participation from the Snofest Committee.
• Group Picture - Members of Snofest Committee will meet in Marmora Memorial Park, Sunday,
January 22, 2 pm, to have their pictures taken for the Shield newspaper.
• Gates - Milton Stephens is booking Marmora Crowe Valley Lions and other volunteers to volunteer
at the gates.

That a map will be included in the 2007 brochure.

June will check to see if it is possible to have the map copied on the back of this year’s place
mats.
• Check Point Supplies - Advise Murray Locke of items needed.
• Hot Air Balloon - a check will be made to see where the best place would be to have the Balloon and
permission will be sought from the school board if it is not safe to have it in the fairgrounds.
