Marmora Snofest Meeting

    The Chair welcomed those present.

    That Minutes of December 12,  2005 meeting be accepted as circulated.

TREASURER’S REPORT - by Barbara Fisher:


COMMITTEES


• Races - Brian Galloway reported races are set.  Five registrations are in.

    Consideration is being given to having the 120 race go through Zion or straight to Eldorado.

    He said Jim Cunningham will be Race Marshall for the 120 Race.

    Others volunteering time will be Paul Reid, Jon McConnell and John Green.

    That $100 be donated to Madoc Township Fire Department

• Buttons -  Stu Fisher reported $***** has been taken in to date.


• Advertising - Chair Richard Lowery reported Norm Bradley has sent a press release to 27 sources of

advertising.

    

• Arts and Crafts - Barbara Fisher said interest is shown and there will probably be approximately

same number as 2005.


• Environment -  Bonnie Danes said Linda Bracken will host the morning bus tour but a host is needed

for the 2 pm tour.  Confirmations are arriving for those participating in displays at Marmora Town Hall

which will be held Friday 9:30 - 4 and Saturday 9:30 - 3:30.

•  Sponsors - The Chair advised Doug Mitchell has DVDs available for the racers.

    That Lapel Pins be sold @ $3.00 each.

• Lumberjack Event  - Robert Young said he was still trying to find a donation of a circular saw blade,

18 - 24“.  He is also looking for an M.C..


• Children’s Events


MOTION - By Barbara Fisher, seconded by Sue Korver

    That lapel pins and T-shirts be given instead of medallions for  Little nippers.  Medallions will be

cancelled.                                  Carried


MOTION - By June Vilneff, seconded by Bonnie Danes

    That 40 t-shirts be ordered for the Little Nippers      

        Carried


    Caressant Care will be asked for permission to have their name included with the words ”Little

Nippers“ on the t-shirts.

    Stu Fisher will speak to Gerald Nicholson re hay wagon ride from fairgrounds.

    June Vilneff reported the ReMax hot air balloon will be at the grounds Saturday and Sunday, two

hours each day. The rise will be 10 - 45’ depending on the wind and will be two - three minutes.    It

can hold two adults or three children - children ride free.  

    It was agreed we should promote ReMax in our advertising and include ”weather permitting“.

    That we donate a $20 Tim Hortons Gift Certificate  to Bonnie Edwards for giving children sled

dog rides.

• Banquet - June Vilneff reported the deadline for tickets is January 27.

    Bob Drummond and June will be the names posted for availability of tickets.

    

• Fairgrounds - John Solmes reported.

    Bob Drummond said a sign should be made available that water is available outside.  A flag will

be installed by tap at north end of arena and mushers will be told, ”Don’t go to the curling club for

water“.  It was suggested French should be used on the signs as well as English.


• Web Site - The Chair said it is now updated and is excellent.  Robert Young said it is being

sponsored by LePage Real Estate and Chris Gorsline is working on it.  He also said it would cost over

$100 for each additional person who has access to the site.


• Chili Contest

    A liquor license has been purchased with funds from Snofest for the evening of the Snofest.  

Chili Contest at the Doo Wop Diner. It was agreed a person with Smart Serve course must be on

premises during hours listed on licence.

    It was also noted, for any serious decisions by the Snofest Committee, a phone poll should be

taken if there is not time for a meeting.

    That next year’s Chili Contest be held at Marmora Legion

• Weight Pull - Linda Roy reported they have a list of the rules.  A memo is being sent to Kennel Club

members asking them to say when and where they would like to assist.

    First, second and third prize medallions for the four categories will be picked up from Nancy

Sopha.


• Accommodations - Steve Bartlett (Wingfield B&B) said accommodations are now on the web site.  He

suggested Snofest promotion for 2007 should be available at the Stirling Winterfest taking place the

weekend after Snofest..


• Skate-a-thon - will take place January 29, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.


NEW BUSINESS

    The Chair said Glen Perry, from the OPP Canine Unit, said they might be available to

demonstrate.  It was decided this should take place 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

    It was decided the $100 donation from Marmora Insurance Office should be used for the oldest

musher in the 120 Race.

    June Vilneff advised she had two $100 donations to be presented.  It was suggested these could

be used to purchase volunteer vests.

    Debbie Deline has agreed to handle computer at Snofest.

    Julie Maynes has done paintings again this year.
