Marmora SnoFest Meeting

BUSINESS FROM MINUTES


Sponsors/Donators:  Vera Wylie asked that letters be send out before September - Richard Lowery will send them out.

    It was decided not to have a Summer Snofest Draw.

   

Signs -  Letter must be sent to Municipality requesting permission to erect large signs in business section and to the store owners requesting permission to use their buildings. Committee formed to look into possibilities - Richard Lowery, Sue Korver, Gail Taylor.  There will be an effort to erect large Œeventı signs for the Fairgrounds.


Children Events - Gail Taylor agreed to send an invitation to the Peterborough Canadian Authors Association to attend the 2008 school childrenıs program.


Web Site - Gail Taylor reported on possibilities - it was agreed to see if Linda Roy could make entries to the present Snofest web site.

Flea Market/Car Show - Robert Young reported vendors are charged $10 each.

An ad will be placed for volunteers and donation of items for the Yard Sale.

Bonnie Danes will arrange for students  to assist.   Redneck Car Derby

tickets will be sold at the June event.


Adventure Race - Gail Taylor said she would contact Anne Philpot for information.  She has not contacted Bill McCoy yet - one of the persons recommended to chair the Race.  Mike Thorne said he would assist but not chair.


TREASURY REPORT

    Barb Fisher gave a verbal report:

 - Adventure Race;  - Marmora Cup with a  cheque yet to be cashed;

 transfer to ŒWait and See² with 3% interest.   GIC at maturity September 18

Motion by Barbara Fisher, seconded by June Vilneff

    that the verbal Treasury Report be accepted.                Carried


Advertising - A list of the times ads ran on CHEX TV was read - a

pre-advertising list of times was not received.   It was felt more committee

members are needed to help Norm Bradley with the advertising and he will be asked to check with The Shield regarding the advertising only running in the local paper.


Buttons - Stew Fisher suggested ordering 1500 for 2008.   It was agreed  to

use the design from the first button made for Snofest and they should be on sale before Labour Day Weekend.  June Vilneff has an original button.

    that Jerry Roy take separate photos of Snofest committee  at the next meeting to give to Robert Young to have buttons made for the volunteers to wear

    A booklet for the 30th Anniversary was suggested.  Sue Korver will check with Loyalist as to possibility of getting it published there.


Promotional Materials - Robert Young is looking into having key chains with lights, tote bags, etc. for sale as  a way of promoting 30 anniversary.  He will look into possibility of having 30th anniversary medallions.


Postcards - New pictures will be chosen.


LıAmable  - Barbara Fisher will check use of the hall by the mushers.


MC  - Richard Lowery advised a new MC is needed and said Abby Brunton is considering.  It was suggested assistants are need - perhaps Scott Shaw or Tim McKeown.


MEETINGS - It was agreed the meetings will be held on the 2nd Monday of each month.
