
Marmora SnoFest Meeting

The Chair welcomed the group and introduced new committee member Susan Woburton who has recently moved to the community.
Motion by Vera Wylie, seconded by June Vilneff
that minutes of October 13, 2006 be accepted as circulated. Carried
Business From Minutes
- Vera announced the Chili Contest would be held at the Legion.
- Buttons were discussed and majority agreed with appearance of buttons and committee was advised the picture was of a local musher.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Races - Brian Galloway reported.
MOTION by Bonnie Danes, seconded by Susan Woburton
that race purse remain as it has been. Carried
Jim Cunningham advised Brian he will be checking into skijoring and attempting to get a person for a demo of the sport.
He will also get information on the Quad Crown Race Series with the Ontario Federation of Sled Dog Sports.
MOTION by Gail Taylor, seconded by Jerry Roy
to have Brian Galloway check into possibility of having a recreational
race. Carried
It was confirmed a Race Marshall does not have to have a snowmobile.
Advertising - It was agreed a budget needs to be provided for Norm Bradley.
MOTION by Bob Drummond, seconded by Brian Galloway
to authorize Norm Bradley to go ahead with advertising at CHEX Peterborough for $***, Cool 100 for $*** and Quinte Broadcasting for $***.
Fundraising - Vera Wylie reported.
1500 tickets will be available for sale ($2 each or 3/$5.00) for
1st prize: Painting by Julie Maynes
2nd prize: 2 tickets to Stirling Theatre and to dinner.
Silent Auction items are needed. Names of possible donators will be divided between Snofest Committee members.
Children¹s Events - Gail Taylor reported
All the schools are excited about participating in a variety of ways (poetry, drama, computer skills, etc) all under the Skate-a-thon umbrella.
It was suggested Canadian Authors could have articles at the Environmental Displays.
Brian Galloway suggested volunteers from a fire department have Sparky The Talking Fire Dog.
Banquet - June Vilneff reported.
Marmora Crowe Valley Lions have confirmed they will cater.
She asked for suggestions for entertainment - possibly children in a choir or skits. Originally suggested as a guest speaker, André Philpot will not be available.
Weight Pull - Jerry Roy reported.
MOTION by Jerry Roy, seconded by Bonnie Danes
that SnoFest would purchase four plates for the weight pull.
MOTION by Gail Taylor, seconded by Brian Galloway
to authorize Jerry Roy to spend up to $*** for rental of a welding machine.
Website - current basic rules for mushers are on site.
Santa Parade - Gail Taylor and Bonnie Danes will work on getting a committee
Bibs - in response to an offer from George Osborne, he will be asked to purchase the three replacement bibs needed promoting Broadbents.
Bob Drummond said he would replace the BMR bibs.
Trophies - are ready for the 2007 plates.
An effort will be made to book a Canine Unit.
Marmora Cup Dog Club - it was agreed the Club will run the Weight Pull and attempt to get volunteers from their 18 members, and they should purchase the medallions which need to be replaced.
