Marmora Snofest Meeting

Wylie,   Bonnie Danes, Linda Roy, Jerry Roy


Absent with regrets: Norm Bradley and Bob Drummond


    Gail Taylor chaired the meeting - Chair Sue Korver and Brian Galloway

arrived during the meeting.   Stew Fisher was present for last part of the

meeting.


Motion by Vera Wylie, seconded by Richard Lowery

     that minutes of October 15, 2007 meeting be accepted as circulated.

Carried


    The Secretary reminded the members the Minutes are always posted on the

Snofest web site.  She also e-mails them out within a few days of the

meeting and wishes to be informed if anyone does not receive their Minutes.


BUSINESS FROM MINUTES


Sponsors/Donators - Vera Wylie said Jennie Killian is not participating this

year.  All letters except two have been given out.  Julia Maynes will

consider donating a gift for the Snofest draw.    Vera stressed itıs

important to send out the letters one year ahead of the Snofest Weekend.

    Richard said he had two tickets for an Ottawa Senatorsı game.  He also

said he is working on  Sleemanıs and a check should be made to see if itıs

going to be sold locally.


Signs - Proofs of new Snofest signs, created by Jason at Xposure, were

circulated.  One was chosen with suggested changes.  Cost for a 4 X 8 is - .


Childrenıs Events - Gail Taylor advised the Peterborough Canadian Authors

have agreed to sponsor again this year and they want more words, less

pictures.   Gailıs letter will go into the schools this week.

    At Bonnie Danesı suggestion it was agreed there could be a Literacy Day

in Marmora Town Hall the Thursday before Snofest including a book display as

well as the entries in the Canadian Authorsı contest.


Web Site - Sue has spoken to Hogan Courrier and will pursue further

information.   It was agreed we should stay with the present site and Hogan

will be approached regarding a brochure and/or having the 20th anniversary

book updated.


Head Set - Jerry Roy showed his head set.  It was felt it was not strong

enough.


MOTION by June Vilneff, seconded by Richard Lowery

    that Brian Galloway purchase a new head set                Carried


Snofest Booklet - Geeks Galore would be willing to do a new booklet at cost

of - each.  June felt the new booklet should not come out till after the

2008 Snofest.


MOTION by Bonnie Danes, seconded by Richard Lowery

    That a new Snofest Booklet be put together after 2008 Snofest including

the 30th year celebration.                                        Carried


 Banquet -


MOTION by Bonnie Danes, seconded by Vera Wylie

    that entertainment will be: a) ³Praise Friends² for 20 - 25 minutes at a

maximum cost of - and b) Richard Lowery to entertain with one of his songs.

Carried


Buttons - Barbara Fisher advised Stew has ordered the rest of the 2008

buttons bringing the total to 1500.

   

MOTION by June Vilneff, seconded by Jerry Roy

    If 2008 buttons are all sold, sell the 2007 buttons for - each.

Carried


Car Show/Flea Market - will be discussed after the 2008 Snofest Weekend.


2008 Races - Brian Galloway distributed Minutes of a Mushersı Meeting held

October 28.

    He advised the Mad Cap race will be eliminated.

    Taking place will be:

2 dog, 2 mile on Saturday

2 dog, 4 mile skijoring on Sunday (Jonny Roofer sponsor)

4 dog & 6 dog Sprint Races - Saturday and Sunday.

6 dog, 25 mile will be a 2 day race

    Brian read his schedule.

    to have Brianıs race report on the web site.                    Carried


Shawn Shaw - has agreed to go to a number of schools including some further

South.   The committee would like to know which schools he is visiting.


Santa Parade - Gail Taylor and Jerry Roy said they have the Snofest entry

all planned.


TREASURY REPORT - Barbara Fisher said the balance in the Marmora Cup is -.

Balances in other accounts have not changed.


Advertising - Norm Bradley has agreed to look after it this year.

    The Secretary advised Jennet Honey had called her and apologized for not

being able to come to the meeting.   She would like to discuss the reason

the 2007 spread did not go in all the papers and to try to work out a

solution.


Promotional Material - Gail Taylor and June Vilneff have sorted through the

material that is to be kept for sale.  They have a complete list of the

material stored in the William Shannon Memorial Room and of the things kept

at  home.

    Suzan Cuddy has agreed to keep the Snofest items for sale in the stores.


Registration - June Vilneff advised Joan Kennedy is willing to work all day

Saturday.  Roseanne Ellis will help and Peter Runyan will help if he does

not have to work.

    Debbie Deline needs someone to help (Judy Nobes will be away).  It was

suggested Brandon Lowe would be excellent.


Registration Room - was discussed - a final decision has not yet been made.

Jerry Roy says he has an oil filled heater which would be ample for a cold

room.


NEW BUSINESS


    Sue Korver mentioned the need for fluorescent vests and Brian Galloway

said there should be an amendment to the rules.


MOTION by Barbara Fisher, seconded by Linda Roy

    that mushers must provide their own fluorescent vests and wear them from

sunset to sunrise.                                        Carried


Photos - Gail Taylor said more photos are needed for the web site.
