
Marmora Snofest Meeting

Present: Richard Lowery, Chair, Wilma Bush, Secretary, Barbara Fisher, Treasurer, Robert Young, June
Vilneff, Brian Galloway, Stu Fisher, Doug Mitchell, Vera Wylie, Gail Taylor plus Jordan Fluke, his
mother and grandmother.
Absent with regret: Norm Bradley, Ashley Murrell, John Langley and Bonnie Danes

That Minutes of October 21, 2005 meeting be accepted as circulated.

TREASURER'S REPORT -
Nil. Barbara Fisher's book of record keeping has disappeared.
. 2006 Button - Jordan Fluke was presented with the first 2006 Snofest Button by Stu Fisher and had
his photo taken with Stu for the newspaper.
COMMITTEES
. Races - Brian Galloway requested that his e-mail address - geeover@hotmail.com would be used for
all his Snofest transactions.
. Buttons - Early Bird Draw will be same as 2005 - draw will take place Thursday, December 29 at
Cook's Barber Shop at 2 p.m.
Stu Fisher has 500 2006 buttons and will order 1500 more. Total order will be 2,000 and 50
buttons will be left at each business.
. Advertising

That Norm Bradley advertise as last year with $200 to each radio station and $50 to Campbellford
radio station. Carried
. Arts & Crafts - Barbara Fisher advised the Legion has been booked and she will send out invitations
after Christmas.
. Sponsors
Doug Mitchell reported. It was agreed letters of request should be set out earlier to be dealt
with before budgets are confirmed.
Marmora and Lake Municipality will have $1,000 - $1500 available. Marmora and Crowe Valley
Lions have approved their contribution. Word will be forthcoming from Cory Golden re his
sponsorship.
Linda Merkley has confirmed Caressant Care will continue with their sponsorship.
The Marmora and District Lions Club will not be continuing as a club but will have $1,000 for
Snofest.
Strategy for deciding level of sponsorship for certain recognition will be decided in March.
. Grants
Trillium Grant was not approved because of volume of requests and of fact we already received a
Trillium Grant.
Will make effort to get HRSDC Grant.
Community Futures will cover $5000 in cost of equipment for the Marmora Cup Kennel Club in
addition to the $5000 received previously for costs of the over-all Sno-Fest operations.
. Promotional Material & Inventory
Robert Young had some material at the meeting.
The flash pins will not be ordered because of high cost.

A DVD is available to be used in schools to entice youth to participate.
Toques are still available for Little Tykes and they will receive medallions again.

The new website is in the process of being updated.
NEW BUSINESS
. Kennel Club - Of 30 participants who are now involved, 23 are present because of the Kennel Club,
and only seven are also members of Sno-Fest, so that we are working to be sure that the Kennel Club
is not being carried by Sno-Fest and is responsible for its own operation.
The Chair said he is chair of the Kennel Club and it operates as a branch of Sno-Fest. He feels it
is appropriate that there be some cross-over help from time to time - as with the request that Kennel
Club be invited to operate the Weight Pull event.
. Weight Pull Event - Classifications and rules are needed

That a letter be sent to the Kennel Club with invitation to operate Weight Pull Event.

. Signs - Xposure could provide three aluminum signs, 4' x 8', for the three entrances to Marmora
Village at a cost of $350 each.
Richard will check with Nancy Sopha re cost and what she could provide.
. Charitable Status - More information is needed.
. Banners - The Secretary was requested to send a letter to Milton Stephens with request that the
Snofest banners be put up after Christmas.
Snofest timetable was reviewed and By-laws were circulated.
