Marmora SnoFest Meeting

October 13th, 2006

Present:  Richard Lowery, Chair;  Wilma Bush, Secretary; Brian Galloway, Race Marshall; June Vilneff,

Vera Wylie,  Linda & Jerry Roy,  Robert Young, Bonnie Danes, John Langley

The Chair welcomed the group and read his 'State of Union' comments on the past activities of

the Snofest Committee and suggestions for the future.

Motion by Vera Wylie, seconded by Jerry Roy

that minutes of April 7, 2006 be accepted as circulated.Carried

Treasurer's report - Nil

It was agreed a typed report should be made available to be circulated.

Correspondence -

- A thank you note was read from Don McEwen  and a picture circulated of Don at an Iditarod

race.

- An October 13/06 letter from the Municipality of Marmora and Lake confirmed the Snofest

Committee and all sub committees would be included in the Municipality's insurance and a Certificate

of Insurance was received from Marmora Insurance.

Showcase -  June Vilneff showed a plaque to be placed on the showcase.  It has Kevin Papineau's

name and date of June, 2006.

Motion by June Vilneff, seconded by Bonnie Danes

That the $16 bill for cost of showcase plaque be paid.

Banquet - June will ask Bob Drummond to invite André Philpot to be guest speaker and she will ask

Pat Provost to cater on behalf of Marmora Crowe Valley Lions.  Tickets will be printed when everything

is verified.

Marmora Dog Club  - Jerry Roy  showed picture of Marmora Cup Dog Club included in "Howler"

quarterly magazine.

Race Marshall - Brian Galloway confirmed the 2006 race schedule and purse has been listed on the

Ontario Federation of Sled Dog Sports site for 2007.

that the race schedule and purse from 2006 has been confirmed for 2007

Jim Cunningham has information and a demo on skijoring.

Buttons - Vera Wylie said Winston was willing to assist Stew Fisher with distribution of Snofest

Buttons.

that the 2007 Drug Policy be accepted.

Carried

Brian Galloway said enquiries have already been received from the Yukon and Alberta.

Committee Structure - John Langley presented a report for everyone which the Chair spoke to.  It was

agreed short reports are necessary instead of long discussions at each general meeting.

That the Police Canine Unit be invited to make a presentation during the 2007 Races.

Santa Parade - It was agreed participation in the Santa Parade is a promotional act for the Snofest

Committee.   Scott Broadbent has offered the 6` Husky to be used in the float.

Fundraising - The Chair reported on a meeting he had with Vera Wylie.    A major sponsor is needed

to replace IAMs.   He will have a letter ready to send to sponsors.

Chili Contest - 

MOTION - Amendment to January 6, 2006 Motion  re Chili Contest

by Robert Young, seconded by Linda Roy

that Vera Wylie look into possibility of having 2007 Chili Contest at Cedar Ridge

Promotional Material -

MOTION by Robert Young, seconded by Brian Galloway

that an attempt be made to empty the present stock by selling the three dozen mugs left at $3

each and the sweat shirts at $30 each.Carried

Schools will be invited to present the outdated Snofest hats to the students participating in the

skateathon.

Other Events - Brian Galloway reported on possibility of the OPP roll over display being used during

Snofest Weekend - a seat belt sled - and Quinte West firehouse.
