Carried

BUSINESS FROM MINUTES

Advertising: The Secretary reported, in reference to the September meeting,

regarding advertising with CHEX TV - the committee felt that circulating the

ad schedule to Committee members would be worthwhile.

New Snofest Committee members -   John Langley stated: ŗTo try and reduce

the very large group of people that currently attend the meetings and of

whom the majority have very little to say, apparently are not particularly

interested in the proceedings, so tend to have separate discussions of their

own, it is therefore suggested that an Executive Committee be set up that

has specific functions for its members, who in turn will form their own sub

committees.˛

MOTION by John Langley, seconded by Richard Lowery

That new members be invited to take part in sub committees having

specific activities of their choice and headed by a Chair from the Executive

Committee.  The Chair will report on the work of the sub committee at

regular meetings.  This will allow more time spent by each working group to

deal with the appropriate subject matter within their sub committee.  This

does not preclude any member from attending regular meetings if they so

desire.        Carried

Ministry of Government Services - The Secretary reported she had forwarded

the necessary yearly report of the five members of the Snofest Committee

Executive:  Chair - Sue Korver, Immediate Past Chair - Richard Lowery, 1st

Vice - Gail Taylor, Treasurer - Barbara Fisher, Secretary - Wilma Bush.

She has not had a reply from Jennie Killian re serving on this committee.

Vera has received a donation from Bunkeršs and two Gift Certificates

from Cedar Ridge Restaurant.

Richard Lowery announced RBC Dominion is providing a donation,  plus two

hockey tickets to be won in a draw.

It was agreed thank you notes should be sent out immediately following

receipt of a donation.

replaced with three colours and  a 4 X 8.

MOTION by Richard Lowery, seconded by Jerry Roy

to have Jason do a mockup of a new sign -                     Carried

Childrenšs Events - Gail Taylor advised a definite answer will not come from

Peterborough Canadian Authors until October 27.  She will check with schools

right away.

She is hoping to have someone come down to help with the senior children and

the Committee felt it would be better to have Canadian Authors on Friday for

the children.

Web Site - Sue Korver is dealing successfully with Chris Gorsline.

Gail Taylor offered to try and scan the Snofest button.

Registration Room Booking - Curtis Trimble could not give a definite answer

this early.

MC  - Nothing concrete has been decided.  It was felt there should be more

than one emcee.

Headset - Brian Galloway said he could not find anyone who rents headsets.

To buy a hands free, wireless headset he got prices from:

Ardenšs Music and  Riverside.

June Vilneff advised she is receiving  donations from George Osborne and

Scotty Cook which would cover the cost at Ardenšs.

Jerry Roy will look and see if he still has a free, wireless headset.

Snofest Booklets  - Sue Korver said using Quik Copy would be costly.

Since the committee would like a 30th Anniversary booklet, Richard

Lowery agreed to check with Jason Hogan at OGeekš.

Banquet - No entertainment booked yet.

Car Show/Flea Market - Since the usual date used by the Marmora Snofest

Committee has been booked by the Marmora Crowe Valley Lions Jamboree

Committee a discussion ensued as to how the Car Show could successfully take

place.  It was suggested the Marmora Cruise Night Club could be contacted to

see if they would consider working with Snofest to have cars displayed in

the arena the same day as the Redneck Derby.

Snofest Buttons -  Only 10 were sold at the Marmora Fair booth.

Inventory -  Gail Taylor and June Vilneff have sorted through the items and

brought what is being kept for storage in the William Shannon Memorial Room.

Richard Lowery agreed to speak with Robert Young who has not formerly

resigned from Snofest Committee.

Newspaper article for Volunteers - no response to date.  Brian Galloway

suggested it should run again - this time to try to get the Community Press

to print it.

The Secretary advised Milt Stephens will not be looking after Snofest

gate workers this year and she agreed to look after it.

2008 Races - Brian Galloway said there will not be much of a change.   There

are not enough volunteers for a 160 race. Consideration will be given to

having longer Sprint Races.

He displayed different coloured bands he suggested using for dogs rather

than painting them and will discuss them with Michael Lynch.

He has had no word back from Jonny Roofer re skijorring.

Ontario Federation of Sleddogs  - Richard Lowery reported on a meeting he

and his wife attended in North Bay recently. He noted:
