BUSINESS FROM MINUTES
Sponsors/Donators - Letters to be sent out were received by Vera Wylie
September 9 - will be sent out soon. Vera¹s phone number and address are
included on the letters.
Signs - A copy of the letter sent out by the Municipality of Marmora and
Lake was presented by Bonnie Danes. It had not been received by the Chair.
Children¹s Events - Gail Taylor advised no word has been received from the Peterborough Canadian Authors, who did not meet during the summer.
Web Site - Sue Korver has been in touch with Chris Gorsline and will continue to deal with him.
Registration Room Booking - It was noted there is no heat in the room - Sue will speak to Curtis Trimble.
MC - Brian Galloway advised Tim McEwen will not be available. Richard Lowery said Abby Bronson is reconsidering, that Rob Cole might help as well as Don McEwen.
Jim Cunningham said he needs a head set so his hands are free for marshalling races. He volunteered to look after long race and perhaps others.

that a check be made into rental/buying cost of a head set Carried
Loyalist College - Sue Korver has checked into possible booklet at the College and was asked numerous questions. A discussion on other possibilities ensued.
Banquet - No entertainment booked yet.
Car Show/Flea Market - It was generally felt the Flea Market is not worth the effort. It was noted the web site announces discontinuation of the event. It was decided the car show should continue.
MOTION by Gail Taylor, seconded by Richard Lowery that the same date in June will be booked and the Agricultural Fair Secretary will be informed.

Insurance - Bonnie Danes advised, since the Snofest Committee is a committee of Marmora and Lake Municipality, insurance will cover any events held.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Snofest Booth at Fair - The Chair thanked Gail Taylor for taking over the organization of the booth - Gail handed in a full report.

Advertising - Norm Bradley agreed to look after the vets for the 2008 races.
He is handing over all the advertising information he has to the new Public Relations person.
It was noted the Snofest insert was not included in all The Shield newspapers.
Norm emphasized that the committee got a good deal with the advertising on CHEX. He had received a sheet with all the times of the airing of the advertising.
Arts and Crafts - Gail Taylor had gathered the names and addresses of the vendors at the Marmora Fair and will provide that information to Barbara Fisher.
Weight Pull - Jerry Roy expressed a concern about bags of sand or salt falling off the sleds.
MOTION - by Bonnie Danes, seconded by June Vilneff
that sides be built on the sleds. Carried
Buttons - June Vilneff said she was looking into ways of promoting the
Buttons for the 2008 30th Anniversary. Judy Backus, for Community Press,
will hold a press conference.
Ambassador - June introduced Paula Morrison who will be looking after the
2008 Ambassador.
Paula said there will be male and female contestants with two categories -
Juniors: 11 - 14 years; Seniors: 15 - 18 years. She is going to ask the previous winners to be judges and advised advertising will be necessary.
The Ambassador will participate in all 2008 parades.
Promotional Material - Gail Taylor said she has much of the material at her home. June Vilneff and Gail are going to do inventory. Gail mentioned the Snofest coins are not selling.
The committee expressed appreciation to John Langley for arranging storage space for Snofest items in the William Shannon Memorial Room.
Volunteer Co-ordinator - Richard Lowery said more volunteers are needed - some people may be willing to assist but do not want to attend all the Snofest meetings. Personal contact is always worthwhile.
The secretary agreed to write a short article for both newspapers requesting volunteers and will include June Vilneff¹s and her own phone number.
Race Marshall - Brian Galloway introduced Jim Cunningham who reported there have been fewer sprinters each year and that some were upset for a number of reasons. He suggested
a) cancelling the sprint races b) perhaps raising the 120 race back up to 150 and c) perhaps lengthening some of the other races.
Norm Bradley said the suggestions should be made to those more familiar with the races.
Jim Cunningham said a decision should be made: € have each musher pay $20 and the money can be kept by the Snofest Committee or € pay $35 to participate in all Ontario races - the money will go to the Ontario
Federation of Sled Dog Sports. Jim needs to know the Committee¹s decision
by the end of September. Richard Lowery thanked him for his report.

that Brian Galloway set up a committee to look into changing the races.
